ABOUT
GTB STEEL
GTB Steel was founded in 1999 as of the largest BOI ventures to manufacture and market reinforcement bars.
The Company established one of the most modern and sophisticated rolling mills and under license from Tor-Isteg Steel Corporation, Luxemburg and Tor Steel Research Foundation of India, started manufacturing reinforcement bars under the brand GTB TOR.

PRODUCTS
GTB’s TMT Steel Bars are available in sizes of 08 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm and 40 mm diameters, and have high yield strength in conjunction with excellent ductility. The use of the TMT (Thermo Mechanically Treated) process for the manufacture of reinforcement bars was introduced for the first time in Sri Lanka by GTB Steel in a modern and sophisticated rolling mill having a quality management system certified to ISO 9001:2008 and SLS 375:2009 standards.

QUALITY
GTB’s TMT Bars consist not only of high strength, but also deformation ability, superior bendability, easy weldability and excellent bond-strength. Our TMT Bars are manufactured from imported rawmaterials that follow international standards and specifications to ensure the highest standards of
quality as per BS 4449:2005 and SLS 375:2009 Grade 500 specifications and standards.
OUR
ADVANTAGES
Result of Advance Technology
Advance technology from Thermex, Germany, is used for the first time in Sri Lanka, to produce GTB® TMT 500. The Thermex process imparts high strength to the bar using thermo mechanical treatment of bars as against cold twisting, which is used to manufacture traditional reinforcement bars.
Purest Billets
GTB Steel sources steel billets manufactured by prime mills that use state of the art facilities like blast furnace, ladle refining with continuous billet casters, etc. All harmful residuals and tramp elements are eliminated during the processing and pure billets are cast assuring consistent quality of GTB® TMT 500.
Excellent Bendability
Unlike the CTD process, the dry ferrous oxide layer remains intact during the TMT manufacturing process. The oxide layer acts as a barrier to atmospheric oxygen and prevents further oxidation. In contrast to TOR steel, TMT bars are free of surface residual stresses making it more resistant to corrosion.
Higher Corrosion Resistance
Unlike the CTD process, the dry ferrous oxide layer remains intact during the TMT manufacturing process. The oxide layer acts as a barrier to atmospheric oxygen and prevents further oxidation. In contrast to TOR steel, TMT bars are free of surface residual stresses making it more resistant to corrosion.
Higher Tensile Strength of GTB® TMT 500
Yield point of not less than 500 gives structural engineers an opportunity to design RCC structures using 8% lower quantity of steel without sacrificing their strength.
Higher Bond Strength
Rib pattern of GTB® TMT 500 is specially created using automated CNC machines, resulting in precisely uniform rib profile through-out the length of the bars ensuring excellent bond strength between steel and concrete.
Superior Weldability
GTB® TMT 500 is produced from low carbon and carbon equivalent billets to ensure superior weldability.
